These shells are not marked by the effect name on the shell. However, the colored string that holds the fuse to the top of the shell does indicate what the effect will be. So you know what effect it will be by the color of that string:
Yellow string: Yellow stars with crackle
Black string: Red stars and green stars
Red string: Red stars with silver strobe stars
Blue string: Crackle only
White string: Silver chrysanthemum with crackle
Green string: Green stars with silver strobe stars
All of the shells have red flame tails on the way up.
